We offer hundreds of rare and current titles to choose from, as well as some video and music services relating to our business. Our product catalog stretches from the early 1940s to the present day. We are often referred to as the best place to visit when searching for entertainment products from people of color. In the near future, we hope to expand into new locations and sponsor a variety of events, including album, book and video signings.
Offering a diverse and varied viewing experience to our customers, our catalog ranges from classic Black film titles featuring some of the most well known and respected African American actors, actresses, directors, musicians, and stage performers, like Paul Robeson, Spencer Williams, Edna Mae Harris, Oscar Micheaux, Lena Horne, Sidney Poitier, Dorothy Dandridge, James Earl Jones, Moms Mabley, Harry Belafonte, Cicely Tyson.
We also carry an extensive collection of contemporary and urban Black film titles, featuring the next generation of Black entertainment talent, including; Denzel Washington, Halle Berry, Wesley Snipes, Angela Basset, Dennis Haysbert, Vivica A. Fox, Cuba Gooding, jr., Melinda Williams, Mekhi Phifer, Sanaa Lathan, Taye Diggs, Jada Pinkett-Smith, Morris Chestnutt, Nia Long.
From early doo wop, jazz, gospel, blues, r&b, and hip hop, our music collection provides a multigenerational appeal and serves as our contribution to the growth and maintenance of the African American musical legacy. Drawing on the rich heritage of musical expression in the African American community, customers, collectors, and music enthusiasts alike can find Billie Holliday as easily as Erykah Badu, Stevie Wonder as easily as The Roots. From the Isley Brothers to Jagged Edge, were certain that we have something for almost everyone.
Weve given new African American authors an opportunity to introduce their work, by carrying books produced by independent publishers. These new authors benefit from getting direct customer feedback and valuable marketing exposure, in a conducive environment within their own community. This often paves the way for greater distribution and circulation of their work in large book chains and smaller independent book retailers, adding to the wealth of African American book titles available for general reading and educational purposes.
Specializing in rare, and hard to find products sets us apart from other music and video outlets. Our customers have the advantage of being able to find, in one location, many of the titles that their grandparents and parents remember, as well as staying up to date with the latest Black film titles on the market.
